1. Fairy bread
Do you like rainbows? Do you like cheap thrills? Do you like watching your kids prance around screaming their heads off? Of course you do, what says children birthday parties louder than fairy bread? Grab the cheapest butter and the cheapest white bread, slap rainbow balls of sugar on top and Bob's your uncle. A real no brainer, but we loved it all the same.
2. Smileys
What is it with people and drawing faces in our food? Everyone has an experience with drawing happy faces on food only for it to look like a washed down wet noodle but that's not the case with smileys! How these deep fried pieces of mashed potato made lunchtimes that much more bearable, Ah McCain, you've done it again! :)
3. Zooper Doopers
Bright colours, artificial flavours, half a kilo of sugar, you name it! Zooper doopers were the highlight of every hot day. These things were so popular the canteens got sick of cutting open 300 of them a day and ended up chaining scissors up on the counter like; "here cut your own ice block". So when Kevin walks up to you in the February heat asking you if you've got 50 cents, you know he's got Zoopers on his mind.
4. Party Pies
Whoever said that Australians have no culture when it comes to food obviously have not tried the 12 pack party pies in the frozen section. These things are the absolute best when it comes to a cheap, easy, tasty snack. Hmm.. There seems to be a trend going on here.
5. Supermarket Mudcakes
Be it your best mates' birthday party, or when mum feels like you've been good. These bad boys will rock your world. Really, feed me all the expensive stuff there is, nothing even comes close to tasting this good after coming home from running around at school.
6. Milo
Did you really think i wasn't going to put Milo in? Oh no.. Hot, cold, lots of milk, little milk, no milk, it really doesn't matter. Honestly nothing to say here, unless you've never tasted the powder of the gods - in which case, i bless your soul.
