There have been a myriad of different TV shows since 2001 that have made groundbreaking progress within children's entertainment. These are subjectively the ten best that have aired since then.

10. Caillouwas a series featuring a four year old boy that is curious about the world around him. It features many day-to-day events that occur in his life, while providing an entertaining platform for viewers. Caillou has not received many notable awards, but it should be mentioned that its effect on cognitive function had been measured extensively, and has achieved very positive results.

is an animated educational TV series for children, that has been running since October 7, 1996. It follows the life of Arthur, an aardvark that attends an elementary school, with a plethora of friends and acquaintances that aid his development. Arthur has been one of the highest-rated shows for many years, averaging almost 10 million viewers weekly in the United States alone It has been nominated for 17 Emmy awards; however, has only won one.
8. Bear in the Big Blue House
was an American children's TV series that aired from 1997-2006, which featured a brown bear and his abundance of animal friends that inhabited the aforementioned big house with Bear. The show focused on the relationships between the characters, their adventures and the myriad of problem solving activities the characters endured throughout the series's entirety. The series did achieve mild success, winning three Emmy awards; however, the show itself was limited to the regions of the United States, United Kingdom and Australia.
7. Blue's Clues
was a successful television show that aired from 1996-2004, with the majority of its popularity existing in 2001-2002. It follows a blue spotted dog named Blue, as it solves clues while consulting the audience. Blue's Clues had received several awards for excellence in children's programming, and had been nominated for nine Emmy Awards. The show was followed by a spin-off series known as Blue's Room, which was essentially a puppet form of the show. It aired for two seasons before it was cut, due to its lack of popularity among viewers.
6. Barney & Friends
is an American children's series that aired from 1991-2009, originating in the United States. It features one main character Barney, a purple dinosaur who portrays various educational messages through song and dance, with positive energy and charisma. The series is planned for a relaunch this year, as the directors hope to capitalise off of the mildly successful franchise that was 'Barney & Friends'.
5. Pokémon
is a very popular Japanese animated show which features monsters known as Pokémon, that are often captured and trained under the guide of trainers. There are currently 802 different Pokémon, spanning 966 episodes. It first aired in 1996 in Japan and the franchise has slowly ventured towards the western world. It's now one of the most popular children's shows in the entirety of television worldwide. They are currently on their 10th season, with a large number of movies and spin-off episodes attached to the brand name. Today Pokémon is a household name in most developed nations, as its audience has expanded drastically.
4. Sesame Street
is a long-running children's series based in the United States, with an abundance of characters spanning over the course of 48 years. It has been broadcast in more than 140 countries. Some of its more prevalent characters include Elmo, Big Bird, Bert and Ernie. Sesame Street has become a household name among children and adults of several generations, through the viewing of its many seasons. Sesame Street has acquired many awards, as well as being rated the 27th greatest TV show of all time.

The series is currently on its fifth season, with episodes airing on weekdays. Peppa Pig is one of the most potent children's shows in UK television history.

It features a talking sponge that lives in a pineapple under the sea, as well as his various friends that accompany him through the 248 and counting episodes.
