5. Dreamworld, Gold Coast QLD

Dreamworld is Australia's largest theme park with over 40 rides and attractions. It's one of the most diverse theme parks with an abundance of rides, animal exhibits, shows and more. If this list was created six months ago, Dreamworld would probably be ranked first; however, due to unfortunate circumstances involving injuries and fatalities on their rides. Due to Dreamworld still being extensive without this component of the park (the rides themselves), it has earned itself 5th place.

4. Wet 'n' Wild, Gold Coast QLD

Ranked best Australian theme park in 2009, Wet 'n' Wild is a great theme park part of Australia's tourist attraction development. Unlike some other theme parks, Wet 'n' Wild remains open all year round, with pools being heated in winter. It's one of the largest water parks in the southern hemisphere, competing with Jamberoo; allowing it to stand out against other competition.

3. Sea World, Gold Coast QLD

Sea World is a unique theme park as it is essentially a mix between an aquarium and a theme park. Its main goal is to promote conservation through education; however, it also has many popular attractions that allow it to be noticed amongst the many other alternate theme parks in the Gold Coast. It's also attached to a resort that allows a more relaxed approach after a long day at such a large theme park.

2. Jamberoo Action Park, Kiama NSW

Jamberoo is the premier water park in the southern hemisphere, with an unmatched ride diversity. It has a myriad of different slides, pools, and other water attractions that have allowed it to obtain many positive reviews. While Jamberoo may be quite small in comparison to the aforementioned parks, its diversity is almost unmatched as far as water-based rides go. Wet 'n' Wild and Whitewater World are somewhat minuscule in comparison.

1. Movie World, Gold Coast QLD

Movie World is a phenomenal theme park as far as Australia's variety goes. With access to many different rides and attractions, it obtains its status of my subjective best quite easily. It has a plethora of different roller coasters that set it apart from other theme parks that are usually limited at one or two. Movie World focuses on entertainment rather than another arbitrary factor and that's what allows it to be successful. It also has a diversity unmatched by any theme park listed above, with roller coasters, water rides, visual displays and constant events occurring that allow it to provide entertainment for any visitor that may attend the park.
