4 Reasons To Go Vegan
1. Health
A vegan diet is great for your health. All the nutrients humans need to survive can be found in non-meat products. Studies show that people who consume meat have higher chances of developing heart disease, cancer and diabetes. Cholesterol deposits from eating meat can also build up in the body causing arteries to be blocked. This restricts blood flow and oxygen which is a common cause of strokes and heart disease.
2. Helping Animals
Animals have feelings and emotions just like humans do. They feel joy, affection and pleasure as well as fear, grief and pain. Farmed animals don't have a chance to have a life outside the farm. They are bred to be killed and consumed by humans. Farmed animals are individuals with unique personalities just like cats and dogs.
3. The Environment
The process of mass producing meat is a huge burden on the environment. Farmers account for most of the water use in the world. Huge amounts of land are dedicated to grow crops specifically to feed the farmed animals and another portion is used to house the farmed animals. Animal agriculture is the most significant source of greenhouse gases, land degradation and air pollution. This impacts on other animals such as birds and fishes. Research has found that with the current rate of animal agriculture, we could see fishless oceans by the year 2048.
4. Vegan food tastes great!
If you ever had the chance to try vegan food, you would find that it is no different to any other types of foods. There are many substitutes to meat products that are used which make vegan dishes taste delicious. There is a higher demand for imitation meats in the market which taste like the real thing and are also much healthier but don't hurt any animals.
